Institute of State and law of the CAS, v. v. i.

The Institute was established by resolution of the General Assembly of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, held on November 16–17, 1955, under the title Institute of Law of the CSAS. As of January 1, 1956, it was merged with a further three law centers of the CSAS. As of January 1, 1961, it was renamed “Institute of State and Law of the CSAS”. As of January 1, 2007, the Institute became a public research institution within the meaning of Act No. 341/2005 Coll.

The Institute carries out scientific research in the area of law and legal informatics, helps increase the level of knowledge and education, implements scientific research findings; obtains, processes and develops scientific information, provides expert opinions, statements and recommendations. Within its scope of activity, the Institute cultivates international cooperation, organizes conferences, symposiums, etc., and cooperates with other institutions, especially universities.
