The OptiQ database is a specialised research database focused on medieval and early modern texts on the history of optics preserved mainly in manuscripts. It builds on David C. Lindberg’s catalogue A Catalogue of Medieval and Renaissance Optical Manuscripts (1975), expanding it with Czech and Central European manuscripts, recent scholarly literature, and links to digital resources. The database interconnects information on texts, authors, manuscripts, digital catalogues, facsimiles, and editions and serves as a research tool for the study of medieval and early modern optics.

The database provides two main tools: Manuscripts and Texts. The Manuscripts tool provides access to a catalogue of manuscripts containing optical texts, while Texts offers a catalogue of individual works. Both tools enable advanced searching and data sorting and link records to external digital resources, including manuscript catalogues, digital facsimiles, editions, and authority databases. The database follows current standards of digital humanities, including support for IIIF, and is part of the LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ infrastructure.
